About the Research Methods Emphasis:

The Research Methods area is concerned with the research methodologies used to investigate learning and educational psychology, broadly defined. Faculty members associated with this area also teach statistics and research methods courses open to students throughout the University of Utah. These same faculty often serve as statistical methodology experts on doctoral dissertation and mater's thesis supervisory committees. Students can receive a Ph.D. is Educational Psychology through the Learning Sciences program that emphasizes research methods (See Learning & Cognition)

The degree program in the Research Methods emphasis is the Master of Statistics (MStat.) degree. The Master of Statistics is a professional inter-departmental program administered by the University of Utah Statistics Committee. The MStat degree's Educational Psychology track is for those students whose primary interest lies in statistical methods in educational psychology. Students interested in earning the MStat degree in Educational Psychology apply to the Department of Educational Psychology. Programs and Training

The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Utah emphasizes the application of behavioral sciences to educational and psychological processes. The department offers doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology, School Psychology and Learning and Cognition, as well as master's degrees in Professional Counseling, School Counseling, School Psychology, Statistics, and Instructional Design and Educational Technology.
