Comprehensive Examination
Successful completion of the program also requires that students pass a comprehensive exam, typically conducted at the culmination of the student's program of study. Three faculty members are appointed to serve on the student's supervisory committee. THe examination consists of the PRAXIS School Counseling and Guidance Test. This instrument follows a multiple choice format and is used to meet licensure requirements for school counseling in the State of Utah. The content of the test focuses on questions that relate to the following four major categories: counseling and guidance, consulting, coordinating, and professional issues. Pass rates are established by Educational Testing Services (ETS).
